I'm afraid this game has a great number of problems with it at the time.
Probably not an exhaustive list:
-As Kenny said, the graphics do not mix well at all. The 8-bit Goombas clash a lot with the Mario sprite, especially considering Mario's so huge compared to them (and also to the Goonies, which don't match up with either Mario or the Goombas). The blocks are also way too small compared to Mario.
-Since land pieces are viewed from an angle, it's kind of unrealistic for Mario to be in front of them even when he's touching the right side of them (when he should properly be behind them because of the perspective). This is a minor issue compared to others, however.
-Mario can break blocks even while falling downward and touching the bottom corners of them.
-Probably the biggest problem of all: After Mario dies and the player retries, Mario keeps the death sprite throughout the entire stage, unless he's over or in water.
-Mario keeps his fire power after he dies and restarts, if he got a flower before he died.
-Mario can bump blocks while dying.
-One time I somehow made him be able to jump after he died and had fallen off the screen, so he was jumping back onto the screen and falling off again over and over, and the game wouldn't restart that time. I couldn't repeat that glitch, however.
-I think that the death sprite used looks very unrealistic. He still looks like he's standing while he falls.
Also, I noticed that a couple times while I was in the second stage with the death-sprite glitch in action, Mario's colors turned bright and pale and he killed Goombas just by touching them, but I don't know what caused that to happen. Is that intentional (some sort of invincibility condition)? The condition didn't seem like it would go away, but maybe it would have if I had waited long enough; I don't know.
